        Carl W. Vogel Jr., 77, a resident of Washington Township since 1994 and 
previously from Armada/Romeo/Royal Oak, passed away at his home on Friday, 
Dec. 26, 2014. Carl was born Feb. 28, 1937, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of 
Carl W. and Mary (Brondier) Vogel. He married the former Susan Heidi on Feb. 
15, 1986, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Romeo.
Carl retired from General Motors as a design supervisor on Sept. 1, 1991 after 
34.2 years of service. He served his country in the National Guard. Carl was the 
longest serving Romeo Lions Club member serving as its "Tail Twister" for many 
years. He helped out with the demolition derby during the Peach Festival for the 
many years that it ran and was a well known announcer during the Peach Festival 
Parade. He loved all types and models of cars and was well known in the golfing 
community. He had a golf swing that couldn't be duplicated.
Carl is survived by his wife Susan; children Tony (Michelle) Vogel of Shelby 
Township, Jeff (Sherry) and Mark (Kim) Vogel, both of Troy, Chris (Sue) Jones of 
Temperance and Ashley (Jesse) Jones of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by 
grandchildren Matt, Anthony, Amada, Zachary, Eva, Nathan, Teddy, Colin, Ewan, 
Liam, and Henry.
Visitation: 1-8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 28, Henry M. Malburg Funeral Home, Romeo.
Services: 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home with Rev. A. Raymond 
Babin officiating.
