        November 4, 1932 to February 10, 2016  
Gilbert J. Opaleski, 83, of Kimball Township, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 
2016.
Gil worked at the General Motors Tech Center in Warren, retiring as the head of Plant 
Engineering in 1987. Gil wasn’t quite ready to retire entirely and soon after leaving GM, 
he began working for Cushman & Wakefield, where he oversaw construction of the 
Chrysler Tech Center in Auburn Hills.
After retiring a second time, Gil and his wife Fran moved from Eastpointe to Port Sanilac 
to enjoy their home on Lake Huron.
Always seeking a need for improvement, Gil became the Supervisor of Sanilac Township 
for five years, after which time he and Fran moved again to Kimball Township, where he 
served on the Zoning and Planning Boards.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances; five children, Andrew (Carol) Opaleski, 
Steven (Lenna) Opaleski, Diane (Gary) Roberson, Donna (Greg) Lesky and Edward 
(Linda) Opaleski; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 26, 2016 in Holy Trinity 
Parish - St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Reverend Jefffrey Allan will officiate.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church.
The family prefers memorials may be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society or 
St. Vincent de Paul.
Arrangements are by the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

        Marie Hanson, the wife of Mal Hanson, passed away on Friday January 8, 2016 at St. 
John's Hospital where she volunteered her services. Marie died of cancer which she

         Zebehazy, Jan Marie (nee Ruhlandt), age 64, of Oakland Township, Michigan passed 
away on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Crittenton Hospital. She was born in Ann Arbor, 
Michigan on January 16, 1952 to Gerald Keith and Lou Marie Ruhlandt who predeceased 
her. Jan graduated from Wayne State University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science 
degree. She taught home economics at Riverside High School in Dearborn Heights for 
two years and worked at Chevrolet Engineering as an Administrative Assistant for ten 
years. She was married to Thomas on May 10, 1980 at the First United Methodist 
Church of Troy. Jan was a member of the United Methodist Women, Patience Circle and 
the Hampton Ladies Golf League and had a passion for Jesus and her faith, her family, 
reading, traveling, her sheltie dog Katie, golf and learning anything and everything using 
her iPad. She took pride in entertaining at the holidays and setting beautifully decorated 
tables. She is survived by her husband Tom; her son, Jason; her brother Phillip (Dianne) 
of Redford Twp., MI, her step-son Mark (Stephanie) and their son Ryan of Peoria, AZ; 
her step-daughter Kim of Vancouver, BC, Canada; and her brothers-in-law, Julius 
(Nancy) of Lilburn, GA; Michael (Wendy) of Orchard Park, NY; and James (Judy) of 
Leesburg, FL; and by her many friends. Funeral arrangements by Pixley Funeral Home, 
322 W. University Dr., Rochester, MI. Visitation on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 3-9pm 
at the funeral home.  Funeral service to be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 
620 Romeo St., Rochester, MI on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 11AM. Jan will lie in state for 
one half hour before the service. Interment will be at Guardian Angel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jan’s name to St. Paul’s United Methodist

        Jackie D. Olinger    Frankenmuth, MI
Went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 28, 2016, at Independence Village; 
age 85 years.  Jackie was born on June 27, 1930 to the late Edward and Wilma 
Olinger.  He was married to Ruth Haubenstricker, she predeceased him on July 4, 
1982.  Jackie served in the US Navy. He worked in security at GM until his 
retirement.  Jackie was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran 
Church.                                                                   
Surviving are: daughter, Debra Ann Olinger of Frankenmuth, MI; son, Dean “Skip” 
(Deborah) Olinger of Sarasota, Florida; granddaughter Allison Olinger (Christopher) 
Hester of Hong Kong; grandsons, Oliver Olinger of Chicago, IL and Zachary (Vera) 
Olinger of Venice, FL; great-grandson, Elijah; granddaughter, Jasmin Olinger (James) 
Clark of St. George, Grenada and great-granddaughter, Isla.  Jackie was preceded in 
death by: brother, William Olinger.  
Memorial services will take place on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at 
St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.  Pastor Mark Brandt will officiate. Burial has taken place 
in St. Lorenz Lutheran Cemetery. Jackie's family will receive visitors on Wednesday 
from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an 
expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Youth Program.
        
        
         
        JONAS, Mary Ann (nee Kaczmarek). July 17, 2016. Age 75. Beloved wife of John for 
54 years. Loving mother of KevinJonas, Kim (Mark) Skarvi and Kelly (Todd) Vierk. 
Proud and loving grandmother of Samantha, Brittany, Melissa (Mark) and Travis and 
great-grandmother of Vince and Hudson. Predeceased by 2 brothers and 1 sister. Mary 
Ann enjoyed working at Hallmark and managed the store in Utica for the past 18 years.
