John A. Juriga will always be remembered for his wonderful spirit, energy and his devotion
to his family. John died May 31, 2020. He was 90 years old, born April 15, 1930 in Detroit,
MI to John and Theresa Juriga. He attended Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic School and
Denby High School before completing his education at Wayne State University. John then
served admirably in the United States Navy before being honorably discharged in 1959.
John loved music. In his younger years, he played a Cordovox accordion in a band for

loved being on the cutting edge of technology and was known for the first implementation of
CAD (Computer Aided Design) which revolutionized the Automotive industry. He retired as a
Chief Designer. He was an inspiration and mentor to many.
John was an avid investor but without a doubt, the most important investment and legacy
was his family, which would grow to include five children and ten grandchildren. Everything
he worked for and accomplished was for them and their benefit.
He loved spending time with his family at their cottage in West Branch, MI. Always busy
with a project, he spent many an hour building, repairing and creating. He was a jack of all
trades and was handy at many things. When he wasn’t pursuing his latest project, he
enjoyed time with his children and grandkids. He loved boat rides, sunsets and
conversations with family. He loved being outdoors and could often be found planting and
gardening, and working outside. Faith was a central aspect of John’s life. He was an active
parishioner at St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic Church for almost 50 years.
John will dearly be missed. He was the beloved husband of Elaine for 61 years. Loving
father of Susan Merner (John), John (Lisa), James, Duane (Kathleen), and Dean (Anita).
